Power quality that protects your plant — and your bill
From Chennai and across South India, Syncsine designs power-factor correction and harmonic mitigation for LT and HT sites: APFC, detuned banks, SVG/STATCOM, and active or passive filters — chosen after measurement, not guesswork.
What plants usually call us about
PF penalties on every bill
Most Indian DISCOMs penalise power factor below 0.90–0.95; several bill on kVAh. Poor PF is a monthly leak, not a one-off line item.
Trips, heat and early failures
Drives, UPS and rectifiers distort current. You see nuisance trips, hot transformers and cables, and capacitor banks that fail within a year.
Solar and cyclic loads
Rooftop PV, cranes, presses and welders outrun a conventional bank. You need compensation that follows the load — not steps that hunt.
What we put in place
We measure first, then pick the technology that fits your load — not the one sitting in a warehouse. You get the numbers, the recommendation and a clear view of what should change on the next bill.
Study and design
Measurements, calculations and drawings you can take to tender or straight to order.
Equipment supply

How a Syncsine power-quality project runs
1. Listen & measure
We review bills, single-line diagrams and, where needed, run a short measurement campaign on site or remotely.
2. Design & propose
Clear sizing, equipment selection, protection scheme and a costed proposal with expected payback.
3. Build & commission
Supply, installation supervision, testing and documented handover with your contractor.
4. Stay with you
Monitoring options, preventive maintenance and AMC so the system keeps earning its keep.
Size the right fix in a couple of minutes
Enter load, power factor and harmonics — with or without solar — and see whether you need APFC, detuned, SVG or an active filter, with an IEEE 519 check.
Common questions
APFC, SVG or active harmonic filter — which do we need?
It comes down to your power-factor gap and how distorted the current is. Steady, clean loads usually need a conventional APFC bank; moderate harmonics need a detuned bank; fast-changing loads need an SVG; heavy harmonics need an active filter — and many Tamil Nadu and South Indian plants need a mix. The Power Quality Solution Sizer applies those rules to your numbers.
Why do our capacitors keep failing?
Usually harmonics. Capacitor impedance falls with frequency, so 5th and 7th currents from drives and UPS crowd into the bank and overheat it. The bank can also resonate with the transformer and make things worse. Detuned reactors (7 % or 14 %) fix the root cause; swapping capacitors alone does not.
What do IEEE 519 limits mean for my plant?
IEEE 519-2022 sets current-distortion limits at the point of common coupling from your short-circuit ratio — about 5 % TDD on a weak supply up to 20 % on a very strong one — plus 5–8 % voltage THD. Indian DISCOMs increasingly write it into supply conditions. We design to that benchmark.
We added rooftop solar and now pay a leading PF penalty. Why?
Daytime import falls while fixed capacitors still push kVAr, so the meter reads leading. Fix it with a 4-quadrant APFC controller or an SVG that works both ways, and review step sizes. Common on Chennai C&I rooftops.
Do you handle HT (11 kV / 33 kV) compensation?
Yes — HT capacitor banks (fixed and switched, with inrush reactors), HT detuned filters and HV-SVG, with protection, metering and remote monitoring.
